Mild temperatures. Bright sunshine. Brilliant blue skies. Colorful flowers blooming. Birds chirping their cheery song. Warm, sunny spring days are extremely enjoyable after the long, frigid months of winter.
On even the coldest of winter days, we know that winter will, in time, fade into spring. In the midst of snowy white scenery and freezing temperatures, we know that spring is on its way. Though we can’t see it, we believe in its existence, and know that it is getting closer with each passing day. In the same way, though we can’t see God, we believe that He exists, that He loves us, and that He is always with us. Though we didn’t see Jesus walk this earth, and weren’t around when He gave His life for us at the cross, we believe that He died for us, and that through faith in Him, we can receive salvation.
Christianity doesn’t make sense to mere intellect. It can’t be understood by human reasoning alone. It must be taken on faith – by believing that God is who His Word says He is, and that He has done what it says that He has done. It isn’t about seeing, and then believing. Rather, it is through believing that we are enabled to see – to experience a real, living, growing relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Jesus said in John 20:29 that those are blessed who have not seen, and yet believe. This world walks not by faith, but by sight, yet those who believe in Christ are to walk not by sight, but by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7). Though you can’t see God, He is real, He cares for you, and He sent His Son to save you. Have faith in these truths, and know that “Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing.” (quote from The Santa Clause movies)
“We believe in God the Father. We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe in the Holy Spirit, and He’s given us new life. We believe in the crucifixion. We believe that He conquered death. We believe in the resurrection, and He’s coming back again. We believe.”
