Believing and Seeing

Believing and SeeingMild temperatures. Bright sunshine. Brilliant blue skies. Colorful flowers blooming. Birds chirping their cheery song. Warm, sunny spring days are extremely enjoyable after the long, frigid months of winter.

On even the coldest of winter days, we know that winter will, in time, fade into spring. In the midst of snowy white scenery and freezing temperatures, we know that spring is on its way. Though we can’t see it, we believe in its existence, and know that it is getting closer with each passing day. In the same way, though we can’t see God, we believe that He exists, that He loves us, and that He is always with us. Though we didn’t see Jesus walk this earth, and weren’t around when He gave His life for us at the cross, we believe that He died for us, and that through faith in Him, we can receive salvation.

Christianity doesn’t make sense to mere intellect. It can’t be understood by human reasoning alone. It must be taken on faith – by believing that God is who His Word says He is, and that He has done what it says that He has done. It isn’t about seeing, and then believing. Rather, it is through believing that we are enabled to see – to experience a real, living, growing relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Jesus said in John 20:29 that those are blessed who have not seen, and yet believe. This world walks not by faith, but by sight, yet those who believe in Christ are to walk not by sight, but by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7). Though you can’t see God, He is real, He cares for you, and He sent His Son to save you. Have faith in these truths, and know that “Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing.” (quote from The Santa Clause movies)

John 20:29

“We believe in God the Father. We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe in the Holy Spirit, and He’s given us new life. We believe in the crucifixion. We believe that He conquered death. We believe in the resurrection, and He’s coming back again. We believe.”

5 Things To Take Pictures Of This Spring

5 Things To Take Pictures Of This SpringDo you enjoy taking pictures? Spring is an awesome time to capture pics you simply can’t get any other time throughout the year, as the barrenness of winter is being replaced by the new life of spring in God’s beautiful creation!

Here is a list of 5 things to take pictures of this spring:

  1. In the springtime, flowers abound. Find new and unusual ways to portray their colorful beauty!
  2. Rainy day? After the rain showers are over, head outside, and capture the glistening wet look of your surroundings. (After all, rain is simply a part of the season!) And be sure to keep your eyes open for rainbows to take pictures of as the sun’s rays begin to peek through the clouds!
  3. Be sure to take photos of the little things that are a part of the season that you may take for granted now, but miss during the long winter months – things such as the bright green grass and leaves, and brilliant blue skies.
  4. Dandelions sprouting up everywhere in your backyard? Instead of seeing them as pests, view them as a photography challenge. Take pictures with them as your subject, finding unique shots to take of them.
  5. Love to watch butterflies fluttering by in the late spring, and into the summer? Why don’t you take pictures of them earlier on as caterpillars, and record their development into butterflies? You may even want catch a caterpillar to raise, so that you can more easily capture images of each stage of the process!

Spring Photography

Spring is a great time to take pictures! The grass turns green, leaves are budding, flowers are blooming, and birds come out to sing their cheery song. Signs of new life are everywhere, reminding us of the new life that we have in Christ.

Here are a few spring pictures I have taken of some of the things there are to look forward to each year with the coming of warmer weather:

Faith In God’s Promises

Faith In His PromisesSometimes the winter can seem to last forever, causing one to long for warm sunshine, bright blue skies, the beautiful flowers of spring, and the cheery singing of birds. Even on the coldest days of winter, however, we don’t doubt the coming of spring. We know that no matter how things may look at the time, it is on its way.
Faith In His Promises

In the same manner, we can trust that no matter what our circumstances, God’s promises to us are true, and that they will come to pass in our lives. Despite how things may currently look, we can be confident in the knowledge that whatever we ask for, in faith and believing, we will receive (Mark 11:24).

What are you believing God for? Know that those who ask will receive (Matthew 7:6). Have faith in God’s promises to you!
