It shines upon you every day –
The spotlight of His love and grace.
Do you see it? Don’t you know
That it surrounds you everywhere you go?
The Lord Most High – He is your light
Repelling the pitch black darkness of night.
His loving favor is your strong shield
To which the darkness always must yield.
Against you the darkness cannot advance,
And it’s due to more than happenstance,
For against the light, it can’t contend.
When light shines forth brightly, darkness must end.
It’s reign is over, it simply cannot go on
In the radiance of His affection that’s sure and strong.
His spotlight protects you from all harm.
At nothing need you be alarmed.
His spotlight upon you draws the ones
Who need to hear of His marvelous Son.
They see His reflection whenever they turn towards
You, His child, made in the image of the Lord.
They want what makes you who you are,
What makes you shine brighter than all the stars.
You’re the one that they’re drawn to,
Because of His spotlight shining on you.
It makes you different, it sets you apart
From those who are lost within the dark.
You’re a child of light, a child of day,
Attracting others, lighting the way.
His unmerited favor is your defense
Against the snares of the darkness.
His spotlight shines on you every day –
His spotlight of love, His spotlight of grace.
God is our light and salvation (Psalm 27:1). He is always with us, as a mighty warrior, to save us (Zephaniah 3:17). With Him on our side, we have nothing to fear.
Our God is a good God. His plans for us are for our prosperity, not for our harm (Jeremiah 29:11). Those who seek Him lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10). No matter what your circumstances, trust that your Heavenly Father will take care of you.
Let us set our hope on the Lord, for He will never disappoint. We can place our confidence in His goodness and love. Regardless of whatever situation we may find ourselves in, we will be kept in perfect peace if our mind is stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3).
The Lord is with you. You have nothing to fear. He is a good God, with good plans for you. Set your hope on Him, and see His provision manifest in your life!
This week’s memory passage from Called and Created’s Bible Reading and Memorization Plan is
Isaiah 60:1-3. These verses bid us to arise and shine. They inform us that though darkness covers the earth, the Lord’s glory appears upon us, and many will come to our light.
Though the world around us is dark, we shine forth the light of God. His love and favor are on our lives as His children. The knowledge of this love and favor makes us shine in a way that attracts those around us. They will notice that there’s something different about us, and want what we have.
We are not of the night or the darkness. We are children of the light and the day
(1 Thessalonians 5:5). We have been called out of the darkness, and into our Heavenly Father’s marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). He is our light and salvation (Psalm 27:1). Our light comes from Him. We reflect His brightness to a dark world, pointing them to the One who is the Light of the World (John 8:12).
You are a light in a dark place! Many will be drawn to the light of God’s love and favor that shine upon you in Christ. Know and believe that His glory will be seen upon you!
This world can be a dark place. Fear, despair, and dread grip the hearts of many. Acts of selfishness and utter disregard for others can be found in abundance. Pain and heartache characterize the emotions of a multitude of individuals. At times, it may feel as if we are groping our way through the pitch blackness of the midnight hour.
Over 2,000 years ago, in the midst of the darkness, a Savior was born – Jesus, the Light of the World (John 8:12). In prophecy of His coming, Isaiah 9:2 speaks of a great light being seen by those walking in the dark, and a light dawning on those living in the land of deep darkness. With this wonderful Light came new life and hope. The angels who proclaimed His birth spoke of it as good news of great joy, for all the people (Luke 2:10). For those who would receive Him, He would come and be with them, filling them with His light. Then they, in turn, would become lights in the darkness (Matthew 5:14).
If you have received Jesus, then you have true Light of the World living inside of you. His brightness shines through you, scattering the darkness. If you feel like you’re surrounded by the blackest night, fear not. The darker it is around you, the brighter your light shines, both illuminating both your way, and drawing others to your Heavenly Father. To your light will come nations, and kings to the brightness of your rising (Isaiah 60:3). Though everything around you grows dark, over you the Lord will arise, and upon you His glory will be seen (Isaiah 60:2)!
If you haven’t yet accepted the Light of the World into your life, do so today. He’s ready and waiting to come in and chase away the darkness. By dying for your sins at the cross, He accomplished all that was necessary for you to come to Him. Simply receive His gift of forgiveness, and invite Him into your heart today. Then you too will shine, reflecting His glory and brightness to a world that’s desperately in need of Him!
