The Real You!

The Real You cand c

Who are you really? What is the real you like?

We all wear masks – masks made up of how we want others to view us. Masks that make us look like we’re perfect, like we have it all together. We paint on a smile, hoping that others will believe that what’s just a mask is actually the real us.

Everyone says to just “be real” – to be yourself, and to show people who you really are. If we were to take off the mask of how we want others to see us, what would be find? Some who’s broken? Flawed? Far from perfect? Someone who doesn’t have it all together, and has insecurities that they are constantly trying to hide?

This sounds depressing, doesn’t it!?! If this were the real you, wouldn’t you rather wear a mask!?! But thankfully, it isn’t!

In reality, this brokenness, this imperfection, this insecurity, is really just another mask hiding who we truly are. Often, it does such a superb job of hiding our true identity that we believe that it is the real us. But it isn’t.

The real you can be found only by looking yourself in the mirror – the mirror of God’s Word! It is the only place where your true identity can be found, because you are who your Heavenly Father says that you are!

Who does He say that you are? He says that you are a new creation (2 Cor :17). He says that you are the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Cor 5:21). He says that you are one of His chosen people (Col 3:12). He says that you are His dearly loved child ( 1 Jn 3:1). These are just a few of the things He says about you!

To find out who you really are, spend time in God’s Word. Allow Him to show you who He says you are. Discover the real you, underneath all the masks!

As He Is, So Are You!

As He Is, So Are You!This week’s memory verse from Called and Created’s Bible Reading and Memorization Plan is 1 John 4:17. This verse says that as Jesus is, so are we – that in this world, we are like Him!

When we look at ourselves, we see our mistakes, our failures, and our imperfections. When God looks at us, He sees the righteousness and perfection of His Son covering us. You are not who you once were! You are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). You are in Christ. He is your new identity!

As Jesus is, so are you! As He is accepted by God, so are you! As He is loved by the Father, so are you! As He is in perfect right standing before the Most High, so are you! As He is free from sickness, fear, depression, discouragement, despair, and anxiety at God’s right hand, so are you! This freedom is available to you for the taking – receive it!

Begin to view yourself in this light. See yourself as God sees you. Find your identity in Christ!

Trust In What Christ Has Done

Trust In What Christ Has Done

Week 24 of Called and Created’s Bible Reading and Memorization Plan is drawing to a close. This week’s reading was Romans 13-16, and
1 Corinthians 1. These chapters finish Paul’s letter to the church at Rome, and begin one of his epistles to the church at Corinth.

1 Corinthians 1:30 says that Christ has become for us wisdom from God – our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.

We are in Christ. Our identity is found in Him. Our relationship with God, and our standing before Him, is based not off of anything that we have done. It is based off of what Christ has done for us. God doesn’t accept us because we have done enough good things, or are good enough people. He welcomes us as His children because we believe in His Son, who gave His life for us.

Our righteousness and holiness don’t come from ourselves. We haven’t done anything to earn our own redemption. Christ is our righteousness. He is our holiness. In Him is our redemption. Let’s learn to trust in what He has done for us, rather than our own efforts, in our relationship with God!

You Are . . .

This world tries to define us – to tell us who we are. Listening to the lies it tries to tell us can leave us feeling discouraged, condemned, unloved, invisible, and worthless.

The opinions of those around us, however, pale in comparison to how God views us. This is who you are in His eyes:

You Are . . .

This is your true identity! Own it, believe it, and begin to see yourself through the eyes of your Heavenly Father!

You Are A New Creation In Christ

You Are A New Creation In ChristThis week’s memory verse from Called and Created’s Bible Reading and Memorization Plan is
2 Corinthians 5:17. It says that if we are in Christ, we are a new creation. The old has past, and the new has come!

We were once sinners, caught in our own transgressions.

We were lost. Alone. Distant. Without hope, and without God in the world
(Ephesians 2:12).

Because of what Christ has done for us, however, we are not who we once were. We have been made new.

We have been redeemed. Accepted. Forgiven. Rescued. Reconciled. Perfected once and for all (Hebrews 10:10). Made right with our Heavenly Father.

This is not because of anything that we have done, but because of what Christ has done for us. We are in Him, and He is our new identity. In this world, as He is, so are we
(1 John 4:17)! Next time you begin to feel guilty, condemned, or unworthy, remember that you are a new creation in Christ. The old has past, and the new has come!
