War Room, and Answers to Prayer

WarRoom_wp_standard

War Room, the latest Kendrick Brothers film, came out in theaters on August 28th. If you enjoyed Fly Wheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and Courageous, you’ll love War Room, which combines familiar elements from previous Kendrick Brothers movies with some twists and turns that demonstrate the power of prayer, and how if we will let Him, God can turn around even the worst of circumstances.

Real estate agent Elizabeth Jordan’s marriage and family life are quickly heading downhill when she meets Miss Clara – a new client who  inspires her to develop a prayer strategy for every area of her life, and a “war room” where she can go to spend time with God in prayer. As she learns to seek God and trust him with what’s going on, things change drastically, and she begins to see what she’s been praying for come to pass – including a change of heart in her husband, and the restoration of their marriage.

War Room demonstrates that no matter how bad a situation may seem, if we invite God into it, He can totally turn things around. It shows that prayer really does make a difference, and has a tangible impact on our lives if we will make time for it.

Throughout the movie, Elizabeth learns that the enemy isn’t her husband, but rather the devil, that if she resists him, he must flee (James 4:7), and that her job is to pray and trust God to do what only He can do. No matter what you’re going through, know this – your enemy, the devil, has been defeated. Jesus won the victory over whatever you’re dealing with at the cross. If you believe in Him, you have been made right with God, and your prayers are powerful and effective (James 5:16). God desires to do amazing things in your life, and He has promised to answer when you pray (Jeremiah 33:3). Make time to come to Him and ask Him to do what only He can, confident that He will turn things around!

5 Movies That Will Encourage You in Your Faith

This summer, check out these 5 must-see films that will encourage you in your faith!

GNDAvatarGod’s Not Dead – College freshman Josh Wheaton refuses to sign a paper stating that God is dead, as instructed by his professor. As a result, he is given the task of proving that God indeed is not dead. God’s Not Dead is all about taking a bold stand for your faith, even in the face of adversity! (Extra note – God’s Not Dead 2 will be released next spring!)

GU_Avatar1Grace Unplugged – Grace Trey struggles with wanting to live life her way, pursuing her own dreams. When an opportunity presents itself, she leaves her old life behind her, and faces the excitement, pressures, and temptations of budding stardom. In spite of it all, she is left feeling empty, and discovers that only her Heavenly Father’s love can truly fulfill her.

DYB-DoYouBelieveInTheCrossDo You Believe? – Do You Believe? (which it looks like will be coming out on dvd in August!) follows the lives of a dozen different people from very diverse backgrounds as they grapple with the most important question any of us will ever face – “Do you believe in the cross of Christ, and if so, what are you going to do about it?”

FTG_desktop5_800Facing the Giants –When the head coach for Shiloah Christian Academy is faced with near defeat in various areas of his life, a new coaching philosophy and outlook on things completely changes both his life, and the lives of football team he coaches. This movie was made a few years back, but it still has a great message for us today! It demonstrates how God blesses those who seek Him, and how He proves Himself faithful, even in the worst of circumstances!

fireproof_desktop3_800Fireproof – Catherine and Caleb’s marriage is going up in flames, when Caleb’s dad convinces him to take the 40-day Love Dare challenge. Can their marriage be saved? The movie shows how marriage isn’t just fun and games, but is about making a real commitment to someone to love them, and keeping that commitment, even when it isn’t easy. It will change the way you look not only at marriage someday down the road, but also how you view dating, which is all about finding the person that God has for you to marry.
