People in this world believe many different things. Dozens of view points can be found on any given issue – political, moral, religious, or otherwise. Opinions on a variety of significant subjects are becoming more and more diverse. In spite of this diversity of opinion, no one wants to state or even imply that someone else could possibly be wrong. After all, what’s right for me may not be right for you! To many, it appears that the truth is a very subjective thing. Yet there are some things that simply are the truth, whether popular or not.
In spite of the current philosophy that truth is subjective, truth does exist, in its full shades of black and white. Though we may seem to live in an age of gray, where anything goes, truth isn’t dead. It is still very much alive, and it impacts us, whether we like it or not.
So you admit that truth does exist. Deep down, you’re tired of all the wishy-washiness of everyone around you. You want to know that you know what’s real, what’s right, and what isn’t. How are you ever to discover the truth in a world of wavering opinion?
Ultimately, there’s only one place to turn for truth – God’s Word!
The Word is God-breathed. It is inspired by Him (2 Tim 3:16). It’s words are the words of the One who created the world around us, and everything with it. He was there from the very beginning. He gave being to all we can see. Don’t you think He would know the truth from the lies? And don’t you think the words He speaks to us would therefore be true? His Word presents truth in it’s true hues, beyond the gray in which our society is entrenched.
The truth doesn’t cease to be the truth just because you refuse to believe it. What God’s Word says is true, whether or not you want to accept what you find in it. Believe it or not, the Bible speaks – either directly or indirectly – to many of the key issues we face on a daily basis. If you search its pages, you will find answers!
When you discover the truth as set forth in God’s Word, don’t be afraid to stand up for it! You don’t have to go after everyone you encounter who believes something different, but don’t be intimidated by them into believing lies. And don’t let opposing opinions of others keep you from standing up for the truth when you are in a position to do so. Dare to be different, relying on God and His Word to discover the truth, for black and white do still exist, even in a world of gray!
