Do you ever feel the need to be perfect? Does it seem like there’s this standard you have to measure up to? Do you ever feel like no matter what you do, you just end up falling short?
The world around us can sometimes make us feel like we must constantly strive for perfection, and no matter what we do, we just can’t seem to measure up. Sometimes, this mindset can carry over into our relationship with God. Maybe you think that He expects perfection of you, and that when you fall short, He’s disappointed and angry with you. Perhaps you feel that for Him to love and accept you, you must live up to a certain standard. If so, know that this is not the case!
God doesn’t love you because of who you are, or what you do. He loves you of who He is – because He made you, and He is love (1 John 4:19). Even when you mess up, He still cares about you in a way that no one else can. He accepts you not because you are a good person, but because at the cross, Jesus gave His life for your sins so that you could be made right with Him.
God’s love for you is unconditional. Know that His acceptance isn’t based on you achieving perfection. Believe that He cares about you!
